Cherisse Mecham, MD

Medical Director, Emergency Department- Thomas Campus


Dr. Cherisse Mecham is a double board-certified physician in Pediatrics and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. She completed her medical education at the University of Utah School of Medicine and went on to complete both her residency and fellowship in Arizona at Phoenix Children’s Hospital. Dr. Mecham currently works at Phoenix Children’s in the Emergency Department and serves as the Medical Director of the Thomas Campus ED and acting Section Chief for Emergency Medicine and Urgent Care. She oversees the hospital’s development and publication of clinical pathways as the Medical Director for Clinical Pathways and participates in multiple quality improvement initiatives on both local and national levels. With a deep passion for disaster preparedness, Dr. Mecham believes it crucial for healthcare workers to be prepared with knowledge and supplies needed before emergencies arise. In this respect, she has served as Arizona’s Pediatric Disaster Preparedness Ambassador with the Arizona Chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics (AzAAP) for the past two years.

Outside of work, Dr. Mecham enjoys mastering her crafting skills and spending time with her husband and two young daughters. As a family, they love traveling and exploring all the many new events that come into town.
