Sepsis is a common cause of acute decompensation in pediatrics. Recognizing pediatric sepsis early is crucial to delivering lifesaving interventions. We will explore the Phoenix Sepsis Score, which is more widely applicable to all hospitals, including our rural communities. Additionally, we will discuss common pitfalls in pediatric sepsis management and highlight high-risk populations, including febrile neonates. Join us to enhance your skills in this critical area of pediatric care.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Identify how to recognize and manage pediatric sepsis quickly
  • Review the Phoenix Sepsis Score
  • Explore potential pitfalls of pediatric sepsis care
  • Consider high-risk pediatric populations
  • Discuss how pediatric sepsis is unique compared to adult sepsis

Dr. Frost and Dr. Tobler have no relevant financial relationships to disclose.
