Messaging USDA Child Nutrition Programs as a Public Health Strategy for Reducing Food Insecurity and Shaping Dietary Behaviors

This activity is brought to you by AzAAP and is designed to provide the best practices in addressing and intervening when patients and families may be vulnerable to food insecurity. The activity will include an overview of trauma informed approaches to communicating with patients and families experiencing food insecurity, and messaging supporting USDA Child Nutrition Programs as tools in improving access to food and nutritious meals.

Successful completion of the CME courses associated with the program, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessment and feedback to the learner, enables the participant to earn 1.00 MOC points. For MOC credit, participants will be asked to complete a post-quiz (based on the content of the live activities) after viewing the on-demand programs. Learners will be provided with up to three opportunities to take and pass the electronic post-test containing a series of multiple-choice questions which correspond with the educational content of the course. Participants must successfully complete the post activity quiz with a minimum passing score of 70% or higher to receive MOC credit for this activity. There is no deadline for completion of the post-test, however participants will not be eligible for MOC credit until the post-test has been submitted. Upon submission of the quiz and verification of the 70% minimum passing score requirement, participants will be granted credit and can access their certificate.

In order to support the professional needs of its members, the AzAAP Continuing Medical Education (CME) program develops, maintains, and improves the competence, skills, and professional performance of pediatricians and pediatric healthcare professionals by providing quality, relevant, accessible, and effective educational experiences that address gaps in professional practice.
