In 2023, 65 Arizona infants died from SUID (Sudden Unexplained Infant Death). The most common risk factor for these deaths was an unsafe sleep environment (e.g., bedsharing, objects in sleep environment, unsafe sleep products). This webinar will address the reasons why families continue to place their infants to sleep in unsafe sleep environments, how pediatricians can address parents’ concerns about safe sleep recommendations, combat misinformation, and decrease the use of unsafe sleep products. This CME webinar will serve as an opportunity to increase provider knowledge, competence, and performance by providing the latest data and recommended guidance related to SUID prevention. We aim to empower healthcare providers with the knowledge and tools they need to effectively address these health issues in their practice.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to:

  • Describe which families are at highest risk for SUID deaths
  • Demonstrate how to increase caregivers understanding of risks for SUID deaths
  • Identify the barriers to safe sleep practices
