Description

The Arizona Pediatric Quality Improvement Institute (APQII), AzAAP's program for improving pediatric health outcomes across the state through quality improvement and continuous medical education efforts, is delighted to offer this opportunity to pediatric healthcare professionals. The webinar will focus on expanding pediatricians' knowledge of current state and federal which can be shared with patients and strategies for addressing food insecurity at varying levels.

The activity is brought to you by AzAAP in collaboration with the national AAP with the purpose of improving pediatricians’ capacity to address food insecurity and elevate pediatrician’s role in food systems and support.

At the conclusion of this activity, learners will be able to: 

  • Recognize local and federal food security resources.
  • Express confidence when screening for food insecurity. 
  • Determine best food security intervention strategies in their practice.

If you are a board-certified pediatrician seeking American Board of Pediatrics (ABP) MOC Part 2 points, you must take and pass the MOC post-test shared via email after the conclusion of the series. The CME activity provider will submit participant completion information to ACCME for the purpose of granting ABP MOC credit. Eligibility for MOC Part 2 points includes:

Successful completion of the CME course Building Pediatricians’ Capacity to Address Food Insecurity, which includes participation in the activity, with individual assessment and feedback to the learner, enables the participant to earn 1.00 MOC points. For MOC credit, participants will be asked to complete a post-quiz (based on the content of the live activities) after the conclusion of the webinar. Learners will be provided with up to three opportunities to take and pass the electronic post-test containing a series of multiple-choice questions which correspond with the educational content of the course. Participants must successfully complete the post activity quiz with a minimum passing score of 70% or higher to receive MOC credit for this activity. Upon submission of the quiz and verification of the 70% minimum passing score requirement, participants will be granted credit. 

Purpose of Course

This activity is brought to you by AzAAP and is designed to enhance pediatric professional competence in evaluating and treating pediatric asthma in the emergency department by providing a review of strategies for successful analysis of symptoms and risk stratification, in addition to a review of existing treatments and their use cases. It is also designed to help pediatric professionals acquire skills and increase confidence in managing asthma, to ensure the best possible outcomes for pediatric patients.
